So i broke my pc160s that ive had forever and have a really tight budget. Any recommendations for decent gaming headsets that are relatively cheap? (still have the sennheiser usb sound card so quality sound doesnt bother me too much)
cheers

Yeah oggerz that's my current headphones, which I've had for the past 2 years I think. And I had another set of the same ones the two prior years until they broke. But I'm pretty sure they don't make that model anymore...
Plantronics Gamecom1

I keep buying Plantronics because every now and again EB Games have a 50% off everything sale but they're fckn flimsy and break heaps easy hence I hve to buy a pair almost every year.

well i would agree that a desk mic separate to headphones is a better idea
even if you're cash strapped now get a cheap pair of headphones and a desk mic then in the future you can get something more comfy.

elesnack, do you own those headphones? if so have you ever taken them to lan? do they block out the sound well?
|
|
|

lol i used 3 pairs of the same logitech usb ones over 5 years, first one sound died, second one left side and mic died, and third one makes some high pitched fuzz noise.
can't complain as they were $50 each(usually $80+ at general retail stores) and lasted a year and a half.
then spent a bit more and got hd555s which sound far better even though im using onboard soundcard

It fits the ear exactly like a pc160 if you can imagine it losty, but yea i'd say it covers like 80% of your ear?
And yeah dekz theres two versions of it, the PRO version and just the standard. Standard one is $59 but yer.
So surprised by how good it is :D

Try and spend a little more like $150-200ish and get something decent that will last for at least 5years and end up costing you less in the long run.
I managed to get Beyerdymanic:DT440s + shipping for $143 from a UK website.

scott, they are closed headphones, which means you will hear absolutely nothing from the outside, even a fire alarm. So assuming you play with vent everytime and dont rely on "lan screaming" then they would be amazing at elysium (especially if your in a booth)
However, since they dont take batteries, (therefore no whitenoise cancelling) they will be really tight on your ears, as this is the passive cancelling they offer
Open - Original Siberia's
Half Half - New Siberias
Passive Closed - ATH 900's
WhiteNoise Closed - Senhesier 690's or something, the ones peekay has.

yeah they do a good job at blocking most things out, at home they're a dream. and yeah what gomez said..
sadly they aren't strong enough to protect you from MC Losty @ nats

you bought them fishballz? ._. you in the music producing business?

it's a shame that most of these headphones look like aids

because youre going to be looking into a mirror at your computer ?
no headphones look good on anyone.. people that wear them around instead of earbud headphones should be shot.

That's such a waste of money gotta say Fishballs. As those headphones aren’t even good for music, and in reality for games like CS any decent $150 pair of headphones is going to reproduce the CS sounds as good as they can be anyway.

that has to be the ugliest headset ever seen fishballs..
